Pitt Advocacy Network
About the Network
The Pitt Advocacy Network is a grassroots coalition of volunteers who are committed to informing elected officials about the accomplishments and needs of the University of Pittsburgh. As a state-related institution since 1966, Pitt has developed an important and mutually beneficial relationship with the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania. The success of that relationship relies on input and support from the campus community.
Historically, the network was created more than 15 years ago by the Alumni Association as the Alumni Legislative Network (ALN). More recently, the Commonwealth Government Outreach & Advocacy League (CommonGOAL) was created to include faculty members, staff, students, and friends. The two unique bodies, both advocating for the University of Pittsburgh, have now joined together as the Pitt Advocacy Network.
The activities of the Pitt Advocacy Network are organized in cooperation with the Governmental Relations office. Action Alerts, briefings, and issue-specific correspondence to members keep them informed and offer guidance on the most effective ways to communicate with legislators.
