Commonwealth Relations

The University of Pittsburgh Commonwealth Relations function is the state lobbying arm
of Community and Governmental Relations.

Commonwealth Relations...

  • Works to maintain a presence in Harrisburg while fostering mutually beneficial relationships between legislators and the people and resources of our vast University community;
  • Monitors legislation in order to gauge potential impact on Pitt, reviewing up to six thousand bills in a two-year legislative session;
  • Submits the University's annual budget appropriations request to the General Assembly;
  • Works with the Alumni Legislative Network to promote alumni grass roots support for Pitt; and
  • Serves as the institutional point of contact for both public officials and the students, staff, and faculty of the University of Pittsburgh on matters relating
    to the Commonwealth government.
