Federal Relations
The University of Pittsburgh Office of Federal Relations is the federal lobbying and advocacy arm of Community and Governmental Relations.
Federal Relations...
- Maintains a constructive presence in Washington, D.C., by providing federal legislators and their staff and administrative agency personnel with information and meeting opportunities to inform them about the personnel, programs, and accomplishments of the university community;
- Monitors and evaluates legislation and regulations for impact on the University of Pittsburgh and provides information to faculty, staff, and programs potentially affected by them;
- Develops and implements the federal advocacy strategy of the university and promotes university perspectives and projects with Members of Congress;
- Communicates input from university faculty and staff to Members of Congress and administrative agency personnel;
- Supports, through advocacy activities, generous appropriations support for the federal agencies that provide research funding for University of Pittsburgh faculty, including the National Institutes of Health and the National Science Foundation; and
- Serves as the institutional point of contact for public officials and the students, staff, and faculty of the University of Pittsburgh on matters relating to the federal government.
